On this day trip to Guadalest, Altea, and Fuentes del Alga, we'll explore the charm of these gems in the Valencian Community. You'll love it!
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Exhibition Room of La Lonja del Pescado (Sala d'Exposició de la Llonja del Peix), where we'll board a bus bound for Guadalest. On this 60 km journey (37 mi), we'll leave behind the blue Mediterranean.
After about an hour-long journey, we'll arrive at the Fuentes del Algar, a fascinating natural site made up of spectacular waterfalls that boast great biodiversity in their surroundings. In fact, Algar's springs have been labeled a Protected Wetland Area due to their environmental richness. You'll also have some free time here to take a dip in the springs and enjoy the area.
Afterwards, we'll head to the charming medieval village of Guadalest and have a guided tour where you'll discover its most emblematic spots. You'll learn all about the history of the San José Castle, a fortress surrounded by mountains that offer spectacular scenic views. We'll also get to admire the baroque church and the Town Hall Square.
Despite its small size, Guadalest has numerous exhibitions, amongst which the Museum of Microminiatures, the Microgiant Museum, the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum, and the Ethnological Museum are all real highlights. You'll have a chance to visit them if you want during our free time.
We'll then return to the bus and, after just half an hour, we'll reach Altea. Here, we'll take you on a tour of the narrow cobbled streets in the historical center. We'll get to admire its iconic white houses with balconies decorated with flowers, as well as Consuelo Church and its vaults, which can be seen from any point in Altea.
Once our walking tour is concluded, you'll have some free time to continue exploring the town's viewpoints, walk along the beach, and try some of the local cuisine in its restaurants with views of the Mediterranean. The perfect plan!
After an 11-hour day trip, we'll return to our starting point in Alicante.
